  1. The fountains are off and covered for the winter. Crazy Mary has resorted to showering in the occasional spray at the Kroger produce section Lenny the Pirate got a new wash tub for Christmas, though
  2. You could always "un-lock" the form, go to the cell you want, and type in what you want....then lock the form.
  3. Every time I update, a small Spanish-speaking man runs out from behind my computer....performs a Mexican dance...throws a Chimichanga at me...then runs back behind the hard drive. It is a tasty and entertaining event...but it can be messy.
  4. Ohio winters suck. I hate snow after Christmas. I'm ready for Spring!
  5. Chaz refuses to register under his real name because he thinks "The Fed" will come and take his marble collection. I think he registered under "Giggles McLaughsalot"....but chaz also painted his living room OSHA safety green....so consider the source!
  6. Greetings and salutations! Chaz (the guy who stands on the corner by Woody's Market and drinks warm Corona) wanted me to let you all know that we are back and ready for another season. Here we go!
  7. Kraft Macaroni & Cheese is the best, but I like the three cheese shells better than the Thick & Creamy elbows
  8. I tried...but nope....no discount JB
  9. I need to get my personal return completed ASAP for the FAFSA......and I will qualify for the education credit....I hope I can at least prepare a good estimated return for use on FAFSA even if I can't file....This is what I did last year...then amended my FAFSA with final tax figures in April.
  10. Thanks so much Don!
  11. Jack: I am in the same situation as you...ATX since 2000 direct from ATX...Then last year through TRX....Now (since not available through TRX) back directly from CCH.....TRX calls and e-mails at leasst weekly even though I have told them not to.
  12. Most of my clients are fairly young so I am relatively inexperienced at retirement issues.....I am just beginning to have clients reaching the 70-1/2 age and facing required minimum distributions. I received a voice mail from one such client today. She mentioned that she heard that she could donate some of her RMD to a charity and thus reduce her taxable income. Have any of you heard of this? If so, can you point me to a good reference on the subject? The way she made it sound, she was thinking that she could somehow donate some of here RMD to a charity and have it DIRECTLY reduce her income....as opposed to running it through schedule A (she does not have enough to itemize).
  13. Thanks....This is what I thought...and No, of course they did not consult me first...Just the estate attorney. She is not planning on moving into the nursing home any time soon.....hopefully more than 5 years from now...but she heard about the Look-back period so is being smart and doing it now. I did inform the son that his basis would be zero if he sold the home and proceeds would be all gain.....He said he understood.....It will likely be a different story when/if he ever sells it. I have documented our conversation in his file.
  14. Woman plans on moving into a nursing home in a few years. She put's her home in her son's name so that nursing home can't take it in a few years. Question.....Are there any tax consequences for the son to be concerned about?
  15. you should be able to correct the Schedule M, have new 8879 signed and re-create the e-file and send it.
  16. I also had the IRS (taxpayer advocate) tell me that sending via U.S. Mail certified means nothing except that it will prove that IRS received an envelope from you....no proof of what (if anything) was actually in the envelope).
  17. With the pasing of my first wife in March 2007, this board and its members came along at a very important time for me. To me, it is more than just a tax resource...it is kind of like a family...Happy birthday to all of us and thanks again to Eric.
  18. No prior year information to look at...They Met in late 2004...Married in May 2005...seperated in Nov. 2005, divorced in Feb 2006
  19. Trying to file 2005 taxes for new client. I know he will not get the refund, but need to get it filed so he can get refund for 2006. Problem is this....client was technically married at end of 2005 although he and his ex-wife seperated in october 2005. Client has not spoken to wife since November 2005, so does not know how/if she filed her 2005 return, but since he has received letters from IRS about non-filing, I assume she filed as MFS. The problem is that my client does not know his ex-wifes social security number, nor does he have any idea how to find it or how to contact the ex-wife. How do I correctly file him as MFS without spouse's SSN?
  20. I now have 2 clients that were to get refunds direct deposited on 03/12....Their status on IRS web site now states 03/30....WTF?! Is anybody wlse experiencing this?
  21. You could just report the 1099-misc income as usual (flowing directly to 1040 as other income) and report a off-setting negative amount as "other income"...with an explanation of what it is.
  22. You may want to call the taxpayer advocate and run this through them...They may assign an advocate and open a case and have you send the returns to them (taxpayer advocate) so they can send in a more personal manner to someone at IRS for processing.
  23. Beautiful! Thanks for the update Kerry...enjoy the girls while you can...they grow up too fast...mine is about to graduate high school and go off to college...seems like just yesterday that we were going to our first father/daughter dance!
  24. New client comes in today...simple tax return....done in 30 minutes, pretty decent refund. Client (Darnell) sais "Bob, you is all right....you is a real man-of-the-cloth....granted...its that cloth that you use to wipe oil from the dipstick...but nonetheless...I like you" and then he gave me a big warm piece of licorice he had kept in his front pocket....I threw it away.
  25. If you're ever feeling daring, you should try the Frikkin banana filling.....YUM
