  1. On the ATX e-file Status page, it states "Awaiting Ack"
  2. oh wow...that long...good to know. I just had no idea how long to expect and since ACKs for current year seem to be coming faster, I was not sure if it was yet time to start worrying.....I guess I'll wait a week or so before I continue this path.
  3. How about that? Although I have never actually dealt with this situation, I was just SURE that such mileage would be a deductible expense. Now I see that it is not. I am now smarter and can provide yet one more example of how this board has made me so. I have referee clients but never any that had mileage....Now if they do, I will know how to handle it!
  4. I always considered commuting to be miles driven to and from your home and a place of employment. However, this client is not an employee and thus, the fields were is refs are not places of employment. the mileage is a reasonable expense that is neccessary for him to be able to perform the service.
  5. No one is suggesting he deduct commuting miles. I stand by my opinion....direct Sch C expense.
  6. still no ACK
  7. The last time I updated the program, a little guy wearing a sombrero and pulling a little donkey walked out from behind my computer and shouted "TACOS!"...then disappeared back behind my computer. While that is an interestingg added feature, I never actually received any tacos...so in the end, all this update did was make me hungry. Hopefully, ATX has addressed this issue in today's update.
  8. I still disagree. IMO, vehicle mileage to and from games is a reasonable and necessary expense for the business of reffing and should be treated as such and entered directly on schedule C...regardless of wether or not they have office in home.
  9. I personally am hoping that Ohio accepts 2011, 2012 and then follows up with complimentary pizza delivery.
  10. Why Office in home? Just list the vehicle as an asset and use standard mileage to get expense for the Sch C Reffing
  11. sounds like a valid Sch C expense.
  12. Wow...First I have heard of this. I will be filing my first return this weekend that includes a deceased spouse. I will advise if I get same "lock" when I try to e-file. It would not surprise me, however, if next "rule" is that any return that includes a deceased taxpayer will need to be paper filed.
  13. Using Win 7 here and I have customized EFINFO and several other forms, but I have not experienced this issue...fingers crossed.
  14. Thanks Jack...First time I have e-filed a prior year return....I'll just be patient.
  15. has anyone had luck getting Fed Acceptance for a 2011 e-file? I transmitted it along with several 2013s on Friday...all 2013s were accepted by Saturday morning. However, the 2011 e-file still shows "Transmitted to Agency". Do prior year e-files normally take longer to be accepted?
  16. Absolutely! Big Buy and pie on me and we'll chow down and share war stories.
  17. Confirmed by Tech Support....duplicate the return, transmit the "new" e-file...good to go.....SOOOO...if you have any e-files that appear to be stuck in a status of "Transmitted to EFC", check the ATX web site e-file status. If the return info does not appear, then your e-file was never actually received by EFC. You will need to duplicate the return and create / transmit the e-file from the new duplicate return.
  18. Correct, jklcpa.....I d not think there is anything I can do to change or re-transmit the existing e-file......I am waiting on a call-back from tech support, but I'm thinking that my idea of duplicating the return is the only way.
  19. Can't delete an e-file that has been transmitted. I suppose I will need to make a copy of the return and create e-file from the new return and transmit that e-file....
  20. I was just told by ATX tech support that since no information on that return showed in their web site e-file status, I needed to re-send the e-file...because it was not actually received by EFC....not sure how to re-send...delete the e-file and re-create?
  21. I transmitted 4 returns yesterday morning. Three have Fed and OH Acceptance...but one still shows "Transmitted to EFC"....not even "Transmitted to Agency" yet....Other returns that I have transmitted since then (yesterday afternoon and last evening) have IRS Acceptance as well....but the one return still shows only transmitted to EFC. I am not one to panic about getting ACKs this time of year, but I'm getting nervous about this one...in part, because it is my personal return.....I wish someone at ATX would check into it and advise.
  22. I've been thinking about buying the Square for the past year or so....I only have approx. 150 clients...and none have ever asked about paying with card, but if its free (or cheap), it might be a good ability to have....even if rarely used.
  23. I did see that blurb where they are not "required" to send a 1099-C if debt was discharged in Bankruptcy....and I know the net tax affect will be zero after including the Form 982 in the return...but for IRS matching, I want to make sure the client's return includes any 1099-C amounts. So what do I do...file now and amend as 1099-C's arrive (or respnd to any notices from IRS about 1099-C income not included) or wait until...when? Fortunately, no forclosures involved....just a lot of credit card debt. Even if they are not "required" to send 1099-C, how do I know they will not. I guess I'm answering my own question. Since it does not seem reasonable (or possible) to delay filing until 1099-Cs are received...as they might never be sent, I will file without them and tell clients that we will respond to IRS notices regarding 1099-Cs when/if they arrive.
  24. I have two clients that had bankrupties finalized in 2013. Neither of them have yet received any 1099-Cs....and both had multiple large balance credit card balances at the time of bankruptcy....So I assume they would receive them. Does anybody here have experience in this that could tell me about how long it should take to receive the 1099-Cs? At least one client really needs to file her return ASAP for college financial aid reasons (FAFSA), but I am not sure what to tell her about how long or even IF she will receive the 1099-Cs. I seem to recall that I received a 1099-C for my deceased wife 2 years after her death.
  25. I'm doing fine with my stand-alone system and with ATX this year....but perhaps Jack should stop by Sidney, OH for a visit so I could treat him to a Big Buy and some pie at The Spot restaurant!
