I understand that you can file black and white W-2s, even though you must use the red and white for 1099SW. If that is true, why does the ATX W-2 print "void" in the upper left hand box? Is there something that I am not checking. These W-2s are not being electronically filed.

How do you turn it off? I looked and apparently did not look in the right place. Thanks.

I'm curious. If there was a partnership, wouldn't there be a 1065 somewhere?

For some reason I thought E-file was not available until 15 January ------oh, that is today, isn't it? Boy, it is too early in the season to be at this point already. Jeez, guess I will have to take the weekend off. Hmmmm, I wonder how that will work out.

Congratulations.!!!

I now have a dual monitor setup. Great! Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

Thanks for the tips. I will try to get it going over the weekend and let you know how it works out. One thing that wasn't answered was whether this causes any problems when I want to use the laptop independently. Do I just use it as normal since it is the #1 moniter?

I have a 17" HP laptop and want to use it as the primary and a separate monitor to use as the secondary. I prefer not to use a docking station and am willing to hook/unhook as necessary. It is only one cord. I currently need to hook up a USB hub anyway that has my printer, external hard drive and mouse on it.

I have seen many of you indicate the benefit of a dual monitor set up. So I have decided to go that way. Question: I have a laptop and if I set this up can I use my laptop as a stand alone without any problems or other specific instructionsl. Question: Can someone provide me step-by-step procedure to set this up. I am computer challenged so you may want to include when to plug in the monitor. You can post here or e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks ahead of time for the help. I truly appreciate it, and will probably even appreciate it more during tax season. have a great day! Mike

Received ATX Max program today ordered thru TRX
MAMalody replied to GeneInAlabama's topic in OLTPRO / OneDesk
Not that it is perfect, however, a review of ATX will give you an idea of what we are familiar with and probably prefer. I would also be willing to review your product when it is finished. I purchased my ATX through TRX...I guess that makes me a member (client), also. You may contact me at [email protected] if needed. -

If that is the case, then I would recommend that it is a forms based product, not input sheet. -
Your big issue will come up when one individual tells you something that contradicts what the other parent told you about, say, who claims the kids, etc. Privacy issues still exist.

Most scanners allow you to put the document being scanned in your computer where you want it to be located. In doing that you can also name it what you want at the same time. Well, at least, that is how mine works.

The IRS has this issue of cell phone business use under consideration. I believe they were going with 25%% personal and 75% business. We will see. Others probably have a better handle on this consideration than my memory, however.

I am in the process of codifying the agreement. I appreciate all the input that has been made. Keep it coming and thank you.

On the ATX 1040 EF Info form, do I need to put anything in the box labeled "if non-paid preparer." ATX only gives IRS options. I understand that the paid preparer information, if not me, would be entered in the paid preparer portion of the form. I assume that both paid preparer and ERO infor can be entered via the preparer manager. I can't quite see how to have them both automatically entered. I have never done this so thought I would ask.

I have come to the point that I have too many clients and therefore am putting on another preparer that will be located a couple of hundred miles from me. Remember my business is all internet based with no face-to-face meetings. I will provide the ATX program, feed her new people, preform QR function and ERO functions. She will use my price list. All monies will come to me. I will keep a percent and she will get the remainder. She will get a larger percent of any clients she secures than those I send her. Ideas on what I should watch out for? Do not assume I have thought it all the way through, because I have not and please do not overlook what is obvious to you because it may not be to me. Thanks.

Was that a live-a-board dive trip? I have always wanted to do one of those.

I believe the following would be a better guideline for due diligence. www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=150531,00.html

I take a relatively modest approach. I simply have those with EITC sign date the bottom of the 8867 that the information on that form is correct. I keep it light but accurate and have them return it with the 8879 and the state e-file form. I have never had a negative vibe nor have I had anyone ever indicate any of the info is wrong. With new clients I have them give me a copy of their SSN card. ( Keep all this in the context that my practice is all internet based, I never see any clients and I did returns in 25 states and for people in three countries.)

I have a worksheet that may be of assistance. If you are interested contact me at [email protected]

While I have never had anybody with a 4029 I do a "ton" of clergy with a 4361. As best I can tell, by reading IRC 32, 1402 and RR 79-78, the determining factor seems to be the applicability of Social Security or SE. If it does apply, then you count that income for EIC purposes, if it does not apply, then it does not count for EIC purposes. I think I wrote that last sentence correctly.

As I read it, I am an out of state preparer who prepared 3 NYS returns in '09 and do not expect to do any more in '10, therefore, I am not required to register. Am I reading this right?

Thanks for pointing out my typing (date) error Don. KC, I thought that was the answer.
