Roberts, I understand your situation and would have done the same thing given your circumstances.

Appears to have been correted with release 4.0.0.15. This setting has remained after the update for me.

I dont see the 4562 & Standard Mileage Deduction fix.

I emailed Andy Vongdara [email protected] TRX R&D Tax Software Analyst and Account Manager 855-880-1040 ext 3515 about this issue after my tech support call about it on 1/23. I got a response today saying to call tech support.

I began working on a new 1120S (the old are not available for proforma nor are states available) and I noticed the following issues: Pg1 - PTIN not showing on previewed pdf Pg2 - Line 8 (Total Receipts/Asstes <$250,000) selection not showing on previewed pdf Pg2-4 - Co name and EIN not showing on top of forms on previewed pdf. Also this is an 1120S with no income so I havent checked other line items. Makes me very uneasy due to the limited filing time of business entities and no proforma or states.

FYI, Form 8863 Delayed IRS is announcing on Monday, January 28th that they will NOT be processing Form 8863 beginning on January 30th. Instead, it becomes one of the forms that is being delayed until late February or early March. This is a fairly common form that will impact many taxpayers.

Terry, doesnt this present a problem in that the SchA doesnt total correctly ? I would be very uneasy pushing out returns with this override.
-
I entered my PTIN and not my SS and it isnt giving me any errors.
-
Did you double click on line 20a and open the worksheet? Works for me.

Yep, computers make recalcing easy. I am spoiled. I remeber doing them by hand. Glad those days are over. My kids hate when I talk about how easy they have it with computers. typing papers for college and having to redo them...ugg.
-
It was probably a recalc issue. Recalc does take a bit of time so you have to be patient. I have a return MFJ, 2 dep, sch A, B, C, D, SE, 3 W2, 1099R, SS, 4562, two 8606, 8812, 8863, 8867, 8949 & all the corresponding state forms and it takes close to two minutes to recalc when the green button is pressed....sheesh thats long.
-
Calculating fine for me on Proformaed and new.. Is your return complete or incomplete? Did you recalculate? (press green button on bottom) It does recalculate on its own after a while. I believe clicking on other froms forces a recalc. Did you try a test return also?

Go to the utilities menu or Ctrl+F12

All of the preparer info appears fine on my 1040s when previewed.

Thanks Terry for creating these and your generous offer. I sent an email to request them.

But you have to put in a cost of $1 to avoid it calculating depreciation on the vehicle that you are claiming the standard mileage rate. You must also choose a deprecitaion method. That cant be correct.

I have a client who is disabled and recieves SS, a W2 from disability insurance provider and a W2 from the employer for the value of life insurance. 1) W2 - Disabiltiy Insurer - W2 income is not subject to Social Security wages so boxes 3 & 5 need to be over ridden to zero. 2.) W2 - Employer - contains a code M in box 12 and amounts in boxes 3 & 5. Code M – Uncollected Social Security or RRTA tax on taxable group term life insurance over $50,000 for former employees. Include this amount as part of your total tax on Form 1040. The amount in box 12 is carrying to the appropriate Tax line on the 1040...GREAT HOWEVER - It is also carrying to line 69 "Excess Social Security Tax" in the Payments section thereby netting to zero. I have tested this and it only occurs in this situation. If I dont override boxes 3 & 5 on w2 #1 (not the w2 with the code M) it calculates correctly without the error on line 69 in Payments. I will have to contact tech support to see how to corrrect this but it makes me uneasy finding this error. WATCH YOUR CALCULATIONS!

Sch A, Line 5, Income Tax or Sales Tax remains an issue. This error is a show stopper if it remains. Doug said recently prior to this release that is was their highest priority.

Good to know Yeah my first and only tech support call was almost two hours only to find out that the two items I called about were known issues. We better all plan ahead for long tech support calls. Also, be careful when screen sharing. The program saves automatically so if a form or something is deleted, its gone. Make sure you have backups.

Well, I will see. I sent my first email yesterday conerning a 4562 problem. Still waiting for a response.

boss, I havent found any detail statemets, unfortunately. At the moment all we have is the notes. One note for the enitre return. Hopefully, detail statements will be implemented or we will be using other less optimal methods such as spreadsheets.
