  1. Im am doing a 1041 for a friend and have a LT capital loss of ~$7000. The program is calculating the current $3000 loss and the balance to the LT carry forward. Since this is the initial and final 1041 where does the LT loss carry forward get picked up since I assume there will be no 1041s in future years. Obviously this is new territory for me ... after all these years. Any help is appreciated.

    State return

Yeah there are some quirks and extra steps involved with TaxWise but at least it does the calculations correcty. I was pleasently surprised to find that if you do the 1120S it will prompt you to pull the K-1s into a 1040 with the matching SS. Nice feature. But I do think I have to do about 25% more clicks per return with TaxWise than I did with ATX or TaxWorks. Updates can be confusing. Bank info willl have top be entered up to four times on a return in some cases. That's just not necessary. And, the thing that really bothers me is when you tab to or through a new cell it will pull info from the dropdown list and overwrite the good info you had there. You really have to be carefull. I cant tell you how many times I have accidently changed a value. The autofill feature is a bit to over zealous for me and requires backspacing over what it selected. And this is a CCH product too.
  3. I will know about mine in just over a week.
  4. Terry, you were buying quality software. You never purchased TaxExact.
  5. Click the link icon that appears to the right of the box when you click on it. It should ask you to go to an existing form or a new form. From there you can select the 1099R

    State return

I believe you have to download (and run) the state from download section on the "Client Login" tab. You shouldnt have to purchase it.
  7. Just got version 3 of Pa business forms and efiling still isnt available. Are other states like this? Im filing an 1120S
  8. Apparently he has no shame.

    NonPaid Preparer

I dont mind having my name on the return but I got used to having that option with ATX & TaxWorks over the past 17 years.

    NonPaid Preparer

Apparently there is no way to mark the return as a nonpaid preparer. Support's recommendation was to use the "self prepared" check box. Its not self prepared (i.e. by the client). Its prepared by me but not paid. Support said they dont think many people have the need for a nonpaid preparer option ... I said that I would bet most do! What do you do for family and friends that you dont charge?

    Sch E & Depr

I got in touch with tech support and they said to create a new 4562 and depr schedules, relink and delete the old 4652 and it worked. This was a rollover and apparently there are issues with rollovers and linkng. Great! I have had other issues with simialr return that required a new form to link because the properly linked previous form wasnt flowing properly. I dont remember if they were rollovers.

    Sch E & Depr

I cant get depr to flow from the 4652 to Sch E. Its linked to Prop A and shows up on the 4562 but doesnt flow to the E. Any thoughts?
  14. Alex, Same here. I would like to return to TaxWorks for 2013 if the software is as good as it was in prior years. Im sure that quite a few posters here would be willing to try TaxWorks 2013 if the price was right. I did speak with a TaxWorks rep a few weeks ago and told him the same thing. He said he could work out a good price. Of course this would be after reviewing the 2012 demo after the 2012 filing season ends ...well 4/15 that is.
  15. You should be able to dispute the cc charge since the product wasnt delivered until mid December 2012.
  16. How about a couple with govt jobs earning about 160k. Three kids who receive SS. They bring over 150K of 1099-C's and claim bankruptcy. Driving nice cars, very nice house, kids dressed like they live in the hamptons. Our tax dollars at work. Isnt the USA great.
  17. He wont do that. That would be admitting that the product was nonfunctional. But his silence on this forum speaks volumes.
  18. That is great news Mike. Hopefully all of the credit card issuers will see this for what it is.
  19. Really!? I mean...come on! Really!?
  20. You could always encrypt the .pdf youself to a password protected .zip file. You can use 7-Zip if you dont have archive software. You can get it here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_7zip/ filehippo.com is a good site for various windows programs, most freeware.

    Education credits

I believe that is the only way to enter the education expenses. I havent found a feature like the one you mentioned. TaxWorks had it
  22. Thanks Cathy, that could be a possible option.
  23. Glad to help.
  24. If you made the purchase using a credit card file a dispute ASAP. It maybe the fastest and easiest recourse for the purchase price. A suit will possibly allow for damages due to loss of business ... if they arent out of business that is. File complaints with the FTC, the AG in your area, and possibly the Tenn. AG. Wait and see if we can get some sort of group suit together. Make notes of all relevant information including timeline and communications including on this forum.
  25. I used the online complaint submission process. Took about 15 minutes. I went into detail using 3000 of the 3500 characters alloted in the complaint details. Mentioned this forum and the many others who were taken by this scam.
