I feel fortunate. 427 returns filed last year. Almost all refunds were direct deposit type. 426 people paid me with 21 days of the completion of their return. Evidently, I was supposed to do one for free. No RALS RACS whatever for me. Maybe I'm just lucky, but my Michigan clients pay me and I do not have to worry.

My take would be file and amend. It is not we preparer's fault they waited to change the code. Blame it on the tea-partiers and the republicans. That ought to get the conversation started

Sending factory jobs to other countries with low wages to keep prices down here seemed like a good idea to some and look what that policy did to the middle class workers here.

Kiddie tax is there for a reason, maybe doesn't seem right in the cases sighted. Doesn't seem fair to me that a drunk can kill you and not go to jail either. We had a senator kill a girl at a bridge and he continued to serve in the senate. Does that seem fair.

Explain she got the same amount of money during 2009 just got more each week and less at the end. Can't get more each week and more at the end in most cases.

Dependent Return - Will it reject for SS used on another return?
chuck replied to BulldogTom's topic in General Chat
E-file the dependent and do not have them claim themselves. It will work. -
That is what I have been doing. I make a note in my file and list the years info that will be used later. I have not found a place within the program like the points you mentioned.

I believe both would count. Would think it would be the same if he had bought the lot then built the house using those dates.

An Irishman who has been stranded on a desert island for ten years all alone looks out on the horizon. It is just a speck at first but as it gets closer and closer he rules out a raft , small boat, and rescue ship. Suddenly emerging from the surf comes a drop dead blonde wearing a wet suit and scuba gear. She approaches him and says, "tell me how long since you have had a cigarette?" "Ten years" replies the Irishman. With that she reaches over unzips a waterproof pocket on her left sleeve pulls out a fresh cigarette and hands it to him. He lights it takes a long drag and says" Faith and Begorah is that good." And "how long has it been since you have had a sip of whiskey" she asks. Trembling, "Ten years" he replies. She reaches over to her right sleeve unzips the pocket and pulls out a small flask and hands it to him. He opens the flask takes a long swig and says "Tis absolutely fantastic!" At this point she starts to slowly unzip the front of her wet suit and asks the Irishman, "And how long has it been since you have played around?" With tears in his eyes the man falls to his knees and sobs,"Oh please, don't tell me you have a set of golf clubs in there too."

I've never had a client receive one but it sounds like it might be the random audits that help them establish the computer programs to look into other returns.
