We had some snow a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty.

Puerto Rico General Info Input Form On All 1040 Returns
GeneInAlabama replied to Crank's topic in OLTPRO / OneDesk
I've seen it too. I don't think it is hurting anything other than cluttering up the screen. I would rather it not be there. In over 30 years, I have never done a Puerto Rican return. -
For the accounting module, go to trxaccounting.com. Don't put in the www before the url.

W2s and 1099s are in the accounting and payroll module. I haven't had a chance to really check into it yet, but it sort of looks like we may have to pay extra for that module which is not what the original deal was supposed to be. I hope I am wrong. I am also wondering if state business e-file is included. The original offer does not SAY that it is included, but it is certainly inferred that it is. I am beginning to have doubts about the software. I sure hope that I am wrong. I am having difficulty learning the program. I have never used anything but ATX(since 1993) but I think it will be OK once I learn how to use it.

IRS to Start Processing Delayed Returns on Feb. 14
GeneInAlabama replied to JRS's topic in General Chat
So the meltdown could occur a day or two after the 14th since everyone is waiting. -
>>his wife, [they separated in Oct or 09] got a copy of his W-2. and filed a Joint return using HER address, and HIS income [she did not work at all in 09] and got the refund which included a LARGE amount of EIC. He, of course, filed HOH since the kids lived with him for 9 months, and he paid for the house all year, and paid child support once he moved out, and claimed the two kids that were his.<< Double filers are automatically audited.

>>Your comment about company rules regarding revealing one's pay reminds me of the sign on the time clock when I worked for A&P Supermarkets as a teenager. It said something to the effect that what you earn is between you and the company and should never be discusseed with anyone. Right below it, someone stuck a note that said "Don't worry. I wouldn't dare tell anyone what A&P pays me because I'm just as ashamed of it as you are."<< John, you weren't the one that wrote that note were you? Somehow, that sounds like something you might would have done. You are pretty witty in some of your postings. :P

GOOD NEWS! EFTPS is working now.

>>I wholeheartedly agree that we should wish everyone that has a birthday this year "Happy Birthday" right now and then let it be.<< Doesn't everyone have a birthday this year? Well... maybe those born on Feb 29th.
-
I tried again a few minutes ago and I finally got through but it was EXTREMELY slow. I didn't even try to finish the transaction.
-
I haven't been able to get through either. At first I thought it was the bad weather (I have satellite internet because that is all I can get in this rural area), but I can get through to other web sites so it must be on their end. I hope they get it fixed soon as it would be a nightmare for me to have to do it by phone. I am a little hard of hearing and I hate making calls where you have to choose from a menue with a passion.

I have found that the way I look at something doesn't amount to a hill of beans. It's how the one who made the rule looks at it that counts.
-
John, you better hang onto those 8109-B forms. You never know when the IRS might go back to using them.
-
Since we are always working a year behind I stay confused all the time as to what year it is.
-
>>But perhaps we can agree that everyone has been publicly wished a happy day at least once, and possibly that further birthday greetings be sent as private messages instead.<< I think Catherine has an EXCELLENT idea. The only thing I have a SLIGHT problem with is having a bunch of "Happy Birthdays" pop up every time I enter the forum, especially since we have quite a few members now. If each one could be wished a happy birthday once so everyone else would know it is their birthday and anyone that wanted to wish them a happy birthday could do it by private message, it would reduce a lot of the duplication. Thanks Catherine for an excellent idea.

Tom was a bit harsh, but I agree with him completely. Medlin Accounting is a valued member on this board. He always jumps in with advice that falls into his specialty. He has an excellent product, gives good service, and the price is below what would be reasonable. You would not be able to buy equal software for anywhere near what you pay for his software.

"There is nothing more exhilarating than to be shot at without result." RIGHT!!

I encourage my clients to file extensions. I tell them if they don't get information to me by March 15th, I will file an extension for them and may or may not be able to get their return done by April 15th. Like John, I don't push myself. I like to spread my work out over the year. Also, for those who bring me their work in October, I don't worry about them. If I get it done by the 15th, fine. If not, I'm not going to worry about it. I had a massive heart attack a little over two years ago and spent 3 weeks in ICU. Nothing is worth worrying about. The world will be here tomorrow whether I worry about it or not.

I agree with Marilyn, the water cooler type discussions are good, but since there are a lot of birthday messages, it might be good if we had a separate category for those. I appreciate having a separate category for TRX.

Thanks Pacun, that is a very good anology. Most people do not agree with me, but I believe a flat tax for everyone with no deductions, no allowances, no nothing would be the best tax we could have. People try to be more righteous than God and try to distribute the burden unfairly. God says give me 10 percent of your increase. Period.
-
If it is required, then I am in trouble. I have always depended on the efile manager.
-
If you are talking about the TRX CD, I received an e-mail from TRX that the CD was scheduled to be shipped on 12-10-10. I don't know what the "blue book" is.
-
Same here. The TRX deal was to good to pass up. We'll just have to wait and see if they hold up their end of the deal. I felt it was worth taking a chance on.

Looks like Gailtaxed and I were thinking the same thing and posting about the same time. They say great minds think alike. -

I have set up a folder labeled prior year ATX programs and moved all the shortcuts to that folder except for the current year and the year just before. I then have a short cut on my desktop to the prior year ATX programs. It reduces some of the cluttter on the desktop and it is very seldom that I go more than one year back on the programs. Someone mentioned some time back about changing the color of the entry field on the prior year programs so that you don't forget and think you are working on the current year when you have the prior year open. I have found that to be very helpful.
