    Live Chat

Nope, the text isn't kept, it just evaporates. That's a good question though, I hadn't thought of that. All good questions. Not too difficult to set up and maintain. Cost depends on how many people you wish to allow in the chat room simultaneously. It's only $20/year to allow up to 20 people chatting at the same time. This yearly cost is due to the fact that that another company takes care of all of the bandwidth and back-end processing. There is also a free package that allows 5 people to chat at the same time, but 5 people in a chat room doesn't sound like a lot. The way forum works allows a question to see more eyeballs beyond the random few who happen to be online at the time it's asked. So yeah, I agree that for serious discussion, the forum makes more sense.

    Live Chat

If you folks think it would be useful, I would consider adding a live chat feature to the site that would allow people to talk (type) in real-time. Your thoughts?
  3. I switched all of my Windows computers from AVG to Microsoft Security Essentials a few months ago: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ It updates itself with Windows Update so you don't have a separate updater running to keep your antivirus up to date. It's fast and light-weight, and doesn't bog down the computer like most other AV software does. I'm not a huge fan of Microsoft products in general, but they seem to have done a good job with this.

    POLL

I would say the TRX forum on this site is a good place to have discussions that are specific to software from TRX. Does it make sense to have a TaxWorks forum under Other Vendors instead of TRX? Or in addition to? I guess I don't quite understand the relationship between TRX and TaxWorks.
  5. Thank you very much!

    VMS Forum

I guess my question is whether the VMS forum is of any benefit to anyone if VMS isn't participating. I'll ask them to pick at least one person to use the forum's Watch feature so that they get an email every time someone posts a thread in there.

    VMS Forum

Kyle is no longer with Virtual Managed Solutions, and I don't think the forum is being actively watched by anyone at VMS. So, the question is, should the forum be removed from the ATX Community? VMS people, feel free to chime in here if you would like to keep it around.
  9. Just to shed a little light on why the refresh might have been required for some... The uploaded avatar picture gets renamed to a certain filename for each member (every member has a unique avatar filename) Sometimes a browser will not realize the actual picture has changed because the filename itself did not, so it'll pull the image from its cache instead of downloading the new avatar. Different browsers have different cache settings, and eventually (probably within 24 hours) everyone would have seen the new picture without a refresh. That's probably more than you ever wanted to know, but there it is :)
  10. I think you might have done it yourself. You might have just needed to refresh/reload the page to see the new image due to the way that your browser cached the picture. That would explain why you might have seen the picture not change, but the size change. It was showing the new dimensions but with the old pic. If you still don't see the new avatar, try refreshing the page, and if that doesn't work, hold down the Shift key while you refresh the page. Let me know if that helps!
  11. Can you e-mail it to me?
  12. I can't imagine why that's happening. Can you post the photo here, and maybe I can change it for you?
  13. Brandy says thanks :)
  14. Using the forum search: If you search for "employee leasing" with the quotes, it should bring topics with that exact phrase to the top of the search results. Notice that if you search for employee leasing without the quotes, you get 200+ results. If you use the quotes, you only get 4 results.
  15. We've got lots of photos like this, and they all have one thing in common. The photos all have a grid pattern on them due to THE WINDOW SCREEN. Yes, all of these photos are taken from behind the living room window. Where it's warm. Where the quilt and hot chocolate are.
  16. If I remember correctly, there used to be an unofficial setting for the program's configuration file that would allow you to do this. I'm also guessing that since it's unofficial, use of the setting isn't well tested (if at all) and like rfassett says, you may invite problems by using it. I'm not even sure that anyone at ATX would admit that it exists, if it still does. I think you'll find that many programs don't have an option to change the location of data storage. It may be easier to install all software to one drive, data and all, and use a backup utility that allows you to pick and choose which folders on that drive you want backed up.

    MASTERS

If you're not finding a suitable font on your computer, you could download one. Scroll down to the "Script" section on this page: http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fontface If you do download and install a font, you may need to restart your software before you can use it.
  18. If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and look at the left-hand corner, there is a drop-down box where you can choose from three different forum skins (themes). Two of them are essentially the same with different font sizes, and one is CleanCut, which looks quite a bit different. You can switch between them at any time, so take a look and use the one you like the best!
  19. Wow! More snow AND networking? I'm not sure which to be more excited about :P
  20. The only tax return I prepare is my own, so this time of year isn't especially busy for me I did find some bugs in the CleanCut skin which I have corrected. Do the Google Search and Donations buttons work for you now? (You may have to switch back to the CleanCut skin)
  21. The CleanCut skin should be all better now. I'm sorry that anyone using the skin had to be switched to the default, but the CleanCut skin was unusable while I was working on it. For anyone who was using it (or who wasn't and wants to check it out) you can scroll to the bottom of the page, and choose CleanCut from the drop-down menu on the left. Please report any problems here.
  22. I'm applying chapstick to the forum right now. The skin should be all better by tonight.
  23. I've found some problems with the forum's CleanCut skin and am working on it. While I work, anyone using this skin will be switched back to the forum default. I'll post again here when I'm done fixing to let you know when it's safe to switch back to CleanCut.
  24. What browser and version are you using? I see you're using the CleanCut skin. Does this problem also happen with the ATX Community skins?
